MG AT SEAWORLD
It was a very long week. My friends and I started our vacation in Houston. We
wanted to see the Houston Rodeo. From there we went to Lafayette, LA to see
the opening of Kenny Chesney's new tour. The next day we decided to take
some time off and spend the day in New Orleans, which was a lot of fun, but not
necessarily some time off. Then the next night we went to Biloxi, MS, to see
Kenny yet again. The morning after the Biloxi show just two of us flew to
Orlando to attempt to see Montgomery Gentry's general admission show there.
I'm tired already recounting all that traveling. Looking back, the Rodeo was fun.
The two Kenny concerts I could have done without, but it was great seeing
some old friends. I really should have gone to the Huntsville show and enjoyed
my second row seats for MG myself. Kicking myself in the butt for that.
Anyhow, the show at Seaworld was really good. I have never seen those guys
do a bad show. Although I have seen better crowds. Everytime I stood up, I
had someone yelling at me to sit down. The first couple of times I stood up all on
my own without any encouragment from the stage. Eddie Montgomery quite a
few times through the show tried to get that crowd on their feet, but yikes, no
way. I can't help but feel bad when those guys work so hard and the majority of
the crowd seems content to just sit on their hands.
Finally at the end of the show as they were getting set to do MY TOWN,
Eddie, seeming a bit mad at this point, said "if you can't get on your feet for our
veterans then.... " I'm not sure what he said after that, since i was screaming so
loud at that point.
They did four songs off the new album. They opened with GONE. They did a
great job with the Brooks and Dunn tune IF IT'S THE LAST THING I DO. I
absolutely love their latest single IF YOU EVER STOP LOVING ME, and i
love it even more live. The last song they performed from the new album was
YOU DO YOUR THING.
My favorite parts of the show are Scarecrow, All Night Long, Hillbilly Shoes,
Hell Yeah, and my ultimate favorite-- MIDNIGHT RIDER.
It was just a great show. Unfortunately, I don't know when I'll be seeing them
again. All of their shows in the next coming months are so far away from me, and
I don't have any trips planned in the near future. I would like to plan some trips,
but it's such a difficult thing sometimes staying out of divorce court. The next
thing that looks do-able for me is maybe ABERDEEN, MD. They really need to
book more shows in the Northeast, and I know the perfect venue: B.B. KINGS
in Manhattan. Now that place they would totally rock.
