I did enjoy Keith’s part of the show. Not as much as I would Montgomery Gentry. This is not meant as a knock on Keithâ
€™s talent, but Montgomery Gentry, they just have so much fun up there on stage and it’s very contagious. Anyway, back
to Keith. He has a very talented band and since it’s taken me so long to get to writing this, I forgot their names. The one guy
was very talented. He played a different instrument for just about every song; the banjo, fiddle, acoustic guitar, dobro, mandolin.
Well, I didn’t know a lot of the songs they performed, but they did sound good. I’ll be glad to see them again in Knoxville
and to be a bit more familiar with the songs.
Kenny and his band did a tremendous job once again. He didn’t do Lay You Down, which as ya’ll know is my favorite
song to see him do live, but I’ll get over it. Actually, I already did, and I enjoyed his show very much. Oh did I mention that I
didn’t win the GM thing, again. That’s okay too.
After the show, we naturally had a post-concert tailgate party. After a few hours, Nikki headed home and Jen and I went back to
the hotel to get some sleep before hitting the road in the morning. Before we actually went to sleep, I suggested that we hit the
road right then, but that was mostly the tequila talking. I have no idea what time it was at that point. It had to be around 2 AM.
We got some sleep, but different things kept distracting us from getting too much sleep. One time it was Kelly calling to tell me
about someone’s trip to Disneyland to see Mickey Mouse. All she kept talking about was the mouse this and the mouse that.
Gosh and all at 4 am her time, 7 am my time and I was just entering hangover hell, thanks Kelly. In the future, don’t wake me
about the mouse unless it’s something you’ve seen for yourself. Especially when I’m hungover. Oh and Kelly,
pictures might help.
With Jen at the wheel we were making good time on our way home. Just like we had done on Saturday night/ Sunday morning.
When we were about 30 minutes out of New York City and home is about 60 minutes east of NYC, we stopped to re-fuel, grab
some food and switch drivers. What should have taken about 15 minutes tops, took over 30. Those roads, oh boy. Hey Jen,
what township of New Jersey was that anyway?!
When we finally got out of that traffic nightmare, we were planning on being home in 90 minutes, but OH NO. We hit so much
traffic once we got back on Long Island. It was absolutely horrible, and it wasn’t even the dreaded evening rush hour yet.
Looking back, we should have left in the wee hours of the morning. I really should have listened to the tequila.
Well, that’s it until Knoxville, which is now only 17 days away. 17 days, that can only mean that it’s time for me to start
packing. I will be needing a lot of film.
